FALL IN GEORGIAN BAY
The Fall Season in Ontario is a combination of summer and pre-winter with magical harvest sunsets. In the coming months there is no better way to plan a break then exploring all that Southern Georgian Bay has to offer.
The region inspires the traveler or the most fortunate who live here , to seek fine or casual, both traditional and ethnic dining. Top Class entertainment and an array of venues are to be found. Throughout this exciting universe of water, sand and beautiful scenery, avenues of discovery are to be explored.
If culture is your bag, then make a date in September to visit a vast array of artists exhibiting their creative talents in different media at the Purple Hills Studio Tour, which includes the town of Creemore and surrounding area. A hidden jewel in the surrounding country is the town of Flesherton where Toronto’s well known cheese emporium, namely ‘The Leslieville Cheese Market” has chosen to open up and has joined forces with the existing Bakery. The artist Ann Wylie-Toal has also opened a store and exhibits her creative jewellery pieces, art and pottery. Make time for a visit and enjoy the ambience of a country town.
On a quieter note, one should not forget the wonderful vistas that surround the region.
Take a scenic drive through Dunedin and glimpse the Noisy River as it wanders its way towards Creemore. Stop off at Bellhaven Antiques (weekends only) and see exquisite treasures. The view of the Pretty River Provincial Park is not to be missed in October when the leaves change color and create a picture perfect postcard. Above the Village at Blue, on top of the escarpment, one can only marvel at the crystal waters of Georgian Bay as they shimmer in the sunlight.
The sound of cascading water has always been a weakness of the human psyche and a drive to, either Eugenia, Hogg or Walters Falls can be a calming experience. Activities such as visiting historic sites, theatre, farmers markets are readily available throughout Southern Georgian Bay.
