Bacchus House Bed and Breakfast - Hume Street in Collingwood

BUSINESS PROFILE:
SUITE DREAMS ... ARE MADE OF THIS

Bacchus House Bed and Breakfast - Collingwood

It is fitting that two experienced sommeliers should name their new B&B after the Roman God of wine. Andy and Annette Lee have transformed their 19th century Victorian Collingwood home into the luxurious Bacchus House Bed and Breakfast. With their strong background in the hospitality business, they know how to pamper their customers. Bacchus House is an “experience” for all the senses, with carefully chosen furniture, polished wood, soft leather chairs, deep rich colours, an elegant dining area, and an impressive gourmet kitchen filled with the promise of culinary delights. And throughout the house, the décor and the ambiance complement the wine connection. The three bedrooms and junior suite are aptly named after popular wine grapes. Depending on your mood and pocketbook, you can sleep in the Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay room. Each has its own well-appointed en suite.

A large and inviting deck with hot tub, BBQ and outdoor fireplace extends the luxury and the enjoyment outdoors. A certified chef as well as a sommelier, Andy has designed the space around the kitchen to include a large chef’s table as well as seating around the center island to accommodate a variety of culinary events, from cooking demonstrations, wine tasting, to unique culinary week-ends with a chance to cook with the chef.

They share the vision of offering “good food well prepared but not overly elaborate”. For Andy, it’s about concentrating on flavour rather than presentation. “We want to offer modern British cuisine with an Asian nuance”.

For Andy and Annette, the dream began on Valentine’s Day, five years ago. They were staying at a local B&B, saw their present house and bought it six months later. If running a small luxury Inn is a lot of work, Annette and Andy welcome the chance to “do what we love while spending time together”. The hard work and attention to detail have earned them a coveted and exceptional five star rating from both the national Canada Select and the provincial FOBBA (Federation of Ontario B&B Association). As Annette points out with pride, “Andy being who he is, our B&B wasn’t going to be anything less.”

Already guests are coming from all parts of Ontario and as far away as England. The dream to make Bacchus House a destination rather than just a place to stay is well on its way to being fully realized.
